It was my first time in Turkiye and Istanbul. I decided to take this tour on my first day to get a good glance of my surrounding and brief history of the city. So glad we did! There were only four of us, I guess February is not fave time for tourist to visit. The weather was super nice. He was so knowledgable and could share the information in a way that was also entertaining. It was my first experience using guruwalk and I was so impressed (and got hooked immediately, used gurus many times since). We visited all the important landmarks hippodrome area, blue mosque and walked our way to Grand Bazaar. He showed us places to eat, things to do, insider stories (which we enjoyed). It was a great experience that lead us to more adventure using guruwalk. Thank you so much!
My husband and I took this same walking tour last year with the same provider and was so impressed. So when we had chance to visit Istanbul again with our kids we wanted them to experience Fener Balat as we did. To my surprise there was Yunus, Kubra's brother who guided as for the walking tour (I thought kubratheguide only run by Kubra). We had the same route as before and Yunus' also such a great guide. He provide us some informations that we haven't heard from Kubra before.. He was well prepared, he brought some printed pictures ready to show us about things he told us. He answer each question. My daughter was a little bit not into the tour that day due to some school work she suddenly need to submit, Yunus was so patient waiting for my group... He also recommend us which restaurant to go for our lunch (and we followed, delicious kofte!). I asked him if he could guide us for Kariye mosque nearby because I was interested to visit with a guide. He explained, basically if there is a guide for inside the mosque, it would be a full explanation on the bible. I ended up went by myself to the mosque which is so beautiful btw, but Yunus was right, I don't think unless you are into the bible you would need a guide inside. Even though inside the mosque was so impressive, it is not that big. Thank you Yunus for answering all of our question patiently. I highly recommend taking this tour with Kubra or Yunus for they are really specialized for Fener Balat area. You will not regret! I promise :)
We ended up taking a private tour because there were just four of us (2 adults + 2 kids) . Glad we did! Bursa is such a beautiful city with a great history. Fatih is so knowledgeable and has deep understanding on Turkiye and Bursa history. He is a great story teller, even my teen daughter engaged and listen eagerly to his story. I think a visit to Turkiye is not complete without visiting the birth place of ottoman empire which is Bursa. So glad that we chose to have the private tour so that we can walk it in our own pace. We ended our day with the most delicious kebab with very reasonable price, not the touristy one which I experienced cost me double. My only regret is that due to my late arrival, we couldn't start earlier and cover more places. But Fatih made the best of our time (5 hours but gone by so fast!). He was also care enough to stay with us and make sure that we didn't end up homeless that night 😂 (I forgot to make appointment with my airbnb host on what time my arrival will be). All in all it was a great day in Bursa and thanks to Fatih, we experienced a lot in a very limited time! When in Bursa, go and take a walking tour with him. If possible, a full day private guided tour will give you so much more. Highly recommend!
