The guide was a polite individual. However, he would provide explanations while facing away from the group, making it difficult to hear him clearly. Additionally, his English proficiency was limited, which made it challenging to comprehend his explanations. Moreover, he had difficulty understanding our questions, often providing unrelated responses. He also contradicted himself by answering affirmatively and then negatively to the same question, causing confusion. His slow pace and lack of interaction compelled us to repeatedly inquire whether we should continue or wait. Consequently, we opted to proceed independently, as we found the tour unenjoyable and uninformative.
Badal wasn't able to make it but Niwas very helpfully took over and gave us a fantastic tour of Varanasi! We felt like we were really seeing things up close, and Niwas was so considerate offering us breaks, water, as well as boundless information and insights into life in Varanasi - even opening the doors to his home for us to offer us a chai! Highly recommend this tour!
