Had an excellent Offbeat tour with Marcela. She was very inclusive and gave a lot of local recommendations. Unfortunately I went to one of her recommendations and it wasn't as she said, but it's likely many of the others were if I had more time in Santiago to explore. The cemetery part was interesting but way too long (over an hour). It also would have been very helpful for the tour description to be upfront about the necessary cost of 1-2 subway fares as 1 girl had to leave the tour since she didn't have it or didn't want to to pay it. I wish we explored a little of the nearby Middle Eastern neighborhood close to the market rather than so much time at the cemetery to further increase variety. Additionally, the information about the park and bridge was interesting, but not very useful--so again, would have preferred more local exploration instead.
First, Carlos himself was quite rude during the check in process. Tour with Tomas was OK. Knowledgeable but not terribly exciting. Nothing new I hadn't heard on other tours already about the history. He took a 15 minute break 30 minutes into the tour which was just a waste of my time. It's a 2 hour tour--breaks aren't needed! He pointed out a lot of places that we can visit on our own more than provide interesting facts and stories beyond the typical. There weren't any exclusive maps or guides given as discussed in the tour description. Spent 5 minutes talking about food for animal killers. I would have been better just roaming around on my own.
Guide was Phillip. His English was hard to understand. His presentation was essentially nonexistent. I didn't know why he was pointing out many things. He walked too quickly for me, who is not used to these hills. I ended the tour very early which I've never done on a few tour anywhere in the world before. Do not recommend
