We had an amazing tour with Joan - really recommend! We went to a few different food spots, all of them were delicious and she was very good with dietary requirements. This was our first tour in Kenya and we didn’t know much about the history so we also found the tour very informative, we had lots of good discussions about Kenyan history and Mombasa as a city. A must-do if you like experiencing different foods when on holiday.

Joan was an amazing guide for my Mombasa street food tour — knowledgeable, welcoming, and clearly passionate about the local food scene. She made the experience feel relaxed, authentic, and safe while introducing me to incredible flavors I wouldn’t have found on my own.

Joan’s food tour was amazing. We started at English Garden and joined the locals for some relaxing time with beautiful views while sampling some local beverages and snacks. Following this, we stopped at a local outdoor spot and had BBQ chicken, Swahili pizza, where egg forms the crust, fries with egg and a Tarmenin drink. It was all so tasty and made me want more. Unfortunately, I was full so was unable to enjoy anymore local cuisine. Throughout the tour she educated me on the history of Mombassa as well as the lifestyle here. We had a wonderful discussion while she answered all my questions. I highly recommend Joan’s tour as she is flexible and made sure to expose me to local food and drinks that I hadn’t already tried. Statt der veranschlagten 2 Stunden waren wir über 5 Stunden unterwegs, quer durch die Stadt mit Stops an unterschiedlichen Streetfood-Locations, die tolles Essen anboten. Die Zeit mit Joan verging wie im Flug.
