I met at the indicated location, Arté 1, but the guide did not show. I should have known this tour wouldn’t happen, as Guru guides normally give you a reminder text within 24 hours of the tour, as well as a nudge if you’re not at the meeting point within 15 minutes. Neither happened. I texted Tiago twice, before the tour began to ask where he was, but he didn’t answer until well after the tour was to start. No explanation, no apologies, no questions. No more tours with Tiago.
Unfortunately Tiago had to cancel on the morning of the tour
We had a great time on this Akihabara walking tour with Tiago. The tour focused on exploring different shops and diving into manga, anime, and otaku culture, and it was honestly the perfect balance between accessible and in-depth. We’re not experts at all, but Tiago made everything easy to understand while still going deep into the history, trends, and little details that make the area so special. You can really tell he’s passionate and extremely knowledgeable about the topic. He contacted us in advance to ask about our interests and preferences, which was a very thoughtful touch, and during the tour he was always attentive and happy to adapt. He even went out of his way to help us try to find an item that was sold out, putting in real effort instead of just brushing it off — very much appreciated. Overall, a super engaging, informative, and enjoyable experience. Highly recommended if you want to understand Akihabara beyond just walking into random shops.
