Remi was very, very sweet, friendly, and kind; however, I was disappointed to learn that he had only been in Bratislava since September 2023 (my tour was in January 2024). I feel there was not as much information included in this tour as others I have attended, and there were multiple questions Remi could not answer. It is for these reasons I prefer to have a local/native tour guide or one whom has lived in the area for many years. The route of the tour, though, was very nice and gave me a great idea of Bratislava’s layout for my future exploring. I believe the tour could be improved by incorporating a short 10-15 minute coffee/toilet break midway through (especially during the winters) and by providing participants with a list/PDF of local recommendations before or after the tour.

Response from Explora Bratislava
Hi Brooke, thank you for reaching out. We value your feedback and understand your preference for a guide with more local experience. Although our guide in Bratislava is relatively new, the positive reviews reflect the effort to create a great experience. We acknowledge your concerns about the tour content and unanswered questions. At the tour’s end, the guide provided a QR Code with a comprehensive PDF document containing city information. Regarding the coffee break, with only four participants, the guide checked with them, and everyone agreed to continue without a break. The guide is always open to accommodating the group’s needs. We are dedicated to improvement, and your insights are invaluable. Thank you for sharing your thoughts; we’ll consider these points to enhance our services.

Alexis is very organized and considerate. He sends out a pamphlet at the beginning of the tour that lists recommendations of things to do, eat, see, etc in the location in which the tour ends, in addition to film/book recommendations regarding the content of the tour! He also utilizes a tablet to show the group audio and visual aids, including videos and historical photos of where we are at any given moment and what it looked like during the time period discussed. As a visual learner, these were wonderful and meaningful additions! Something to note: this tour does require a 24-hour AB public transportation pass. I did not see this written anywhere on the tour description, but Alexis does message each participant right before the tour to inform them. At the time of writing, the pass is €9.90, so it’s worth knowing beforehand if you’re traveling on a budget.

I have no words to express my gratitud for such a fantastic review, Brooke. Thank you very very much. One good new is that in a few days new prices of underground tickets and extended time to change trains, so with a sigle ticket, a 1/3 cheaper, we’ll manage it. I wish you the best experience in your european trip.

Alexis’s tour was one of my favorites in Europe. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Berlin and could offer detailed accounts of past events, as well as their impact on modern times. I always love when a guide can bring humor into their speeches! There is a quick 10-15 minute break about 45 minutes-1 hour before the end of the tour, which was deeply appreciated. I have already booked another tour with Alexis and can’t wait!

Brooke, this is an incredible review. Thanks for it and for trusting me in this and in my other tour ‘East Berlin: Wall and Cold War Special’. I wish you the best in your European trip. Kind regards.
