Konnichiwa ! I'm Ryo, your local guide. I was born and raised in Tokyo. I graduated from Shinjuku Public High School, a 5-minute walk from Shinjuku Station and then went to Waseda University, which is about a 30-minute walk from the same station. I used to live in Kabukicho town and worked for a movie production company located in the Shinjuku Nichome gay town. I have first-hand experience going to many of the establishments which we will discuss during the tour.
Currently, I work as a cram school English teacher during the day, teaching both high school students and recent graduates.
I had an absolutely wonderful experience with this guide. Even though it was very cold and no other guests joined the tour that day, he still went ahead and gave me the full experience as a private tour, with the same enthusiasm, professionalism, and kindness as if it had been a large group. He was incredibly friendly, patient, and attentive at all times, always making sure I was comfortable and enjoying every moment. His explanations were clear, interesting, and full of passion for Tokyo and its culture. I never felt rushed, and he adapted the pace perfectly to me. He also took many great photos, which I truly appreciate and will cherish as memories of this trip. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated and genuinely kind. I felt very lucky to have him as my guide, and I highly recommend him to anyone visiting Tokyo who wants a warm, personal, and memorable experience. You won’t regret it. Super Tour mit Ryo, sehr nette und offene Person die über alles reden kann ohne irgendwelche Hemmungen. Ich war sogar alleine mit ihm Unterwegs, trotz das ich nur alleine war hat er die Tour gemacht :) großes danke dafür! Die Tour war gut vorbereitet und auch mit Informationen hinterlegt und mit Bildern auf seinem Ipad. Dazu kamen auch noch sehr viele Erfahrungswerte dazu :) Sehr interessante Tour falls man diverse Facetten des Viertels sehen will und auch den geschichtlichen Aspekt. Vielen dank !
This was my 2nd Shinjuku walking tour and Ryo’s was the best. It was more informative and covered more locations than my previous experience, with a deeper focus on history, culture and social context. Ryo created a relaxed, open environment and explained the area in a straightforward, non-sensational way. I especially appreciated how open to questions he was. If you’re curious and want to understand this side of Shinjuku and Japan rather than just walk through it, I highly recommend this tour.
We had a great time exploring the red light district of Shinjuku with Ryo. He was a very professional, informative and friendly guide who showed us lots of hidden spots that we wouldn't have otherwise known about. We learnt a lot about Japanese culture and now feel like we have a better understanding of the country overall. Would highly recommend this tour. Thanks Ryo!
