Konnichiwa ! I'm Ryo, your local guide. I was born and raised in Tokyo. I graduated from Shinjuku Public High School, a 5-minute walk from Shinjuku Station and then went to Waseda University, which is about a 30-minute walk from the same station. I used to live in Kabukicho town and worked for a movie production company located in the Shinjuku Nichome gay town. I have first-hand experience going to many of the establishments which we will discuss during the tour.
Currently, I work as a cram school English teacher during the day, teaching both high school students and recent graduates.

It was a very good tour and learned many things about the red light district and the Japanese culture.
Highly recommended! This was a fascinating and deeply insightful tour. Ryo was a fantastic guide, highly enthusiastic, welcoming, and incredibly well-prepared. He used his tablet to show excellent visual aids and data that really brought the history to life. Just a quick heads-up: this experience is definitely geared toward an adult audience, as it covers sensitive and graphic subject matter that might not be for everyone. It's also longer than your typical walking tour, but the time flies by because the content is so gripping. It tackles crucial, often overlooked aspects of Japanese culture and relationships between men and women. If you want an eye-opening, mature perspective on Japan, don't miss this!
This tour is one of the best we have been in in Japan, its a must if you are in Tokyo and interested in learning about the darker side of it! Very informative, we learnt about some history and how the Japanese really let their hair down! 🤪 We would have just walked past most of these places if it had not been for the tour, it was fascinating to learn about them and the history. Ryo was a very interesting guy and also funny with a great sense of humour, sharing his many experiences. Not for the faint hearted, haha! 😄 We very much enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo and with an interest in the red light district area 👌 Thanks for a fascinating and great evening Ryo!
This is a strange tour !! It is a red light district tour, only ment for adults and this is exactly what you get. Shinjuku by night and on top of that an unknown Shinjuku. The rather graphic explications (without getting too intense) of Ryo really entertained me. This is exactly what I wanted to hear without taboos. It helped of course that I was the only visitor so Ryo could judge me and I could ask without inhibitions. This tour is not for everyone I’ll admit but I had an amazing time !
