I am a guide with wide experience in museums, walking tours and classes about tourism, capable of communicating with people of all ages in a friendly and fresh manner, vast knowledge of history of Chile and the world.
This was an excellent tour. Mauricio has clearly studied his brief in detail, and he speaks excellent English, although perhaps, in the style of an English professor, which is quite understandable, given his topic, and that English is his second language. He was punctual and flexible about the route because there were only the two of us there. He also has a very good general knowledge and is a very intelligent person and very comfortable and happy to answer general questions during the tour. We started with a short overview of the history of Valparaiso and received a great deal, more detail with reference to particular points as we went. The topography of Valparaiso means that there were some steps, but there was nothing too stressful, and we used one ascensore up and another to get back, down which had a very modest cost. My only constructive suggestion is that Mauricio might find it worthwhile to give a more expanded overview of the city history at the start of the tour, even if it means he has less time to give greater detail at each point. More detail is sometimes important but my view is that the most important thing a tour guide can do is to give you a sense of history, and the essence of a place, and sometimes too much detail can overshadow that. 5 stars from me.
Mauricio is a fantastic tour guide. Very knowledgeable about every aspect of Chilenian history. We really enjoyed our tour. Would highly recommend him. Louise and Jurgen from Canada
