Passionate about the history and cultural identity of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, I have been fascinated since the founding of the city of Luxembourg by Siegfried I von Lëtzebuerg. From the formation of the County to the Duchy, a western outpost of the Germanic world, up to the present Grand Duchy, I deeply cherish Luxembourg's culture and cuisine.
My experiences as a guide reflect my dedication to sharing this passion. With extensive knowledge gained through my academic journey and roles as an organizer and guide, notably at the Museum of the Grande Ardenne in Bastogne, I am committed to showcasing the richness of this magnificent region.
Currently, I am a cultural mediator for the MNAHA (National Museum of Archaeology, History and Art) / Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart, overseeing the Neolithic villa of Lorentzweiler. Additionally, I work as a guide-lecturer for the Lëtzebuerg City Museum and the Fonds Belval in southern Luxembourg.
I had the pleasure of having Gilles as my walking tour guide in Luxembourg, and he made the experience unforgettable. As the only participant, I enjoyed a personalized tour that was both informative and engaging. Gilles's deep knowledge of the city and its history, combined with his friendly and approachable manner, made the tour exceptional. I highly recommend Gilles for anyone looking to explore Luxembourg with a knowledgeable and passionate guide.
The guide was very nice, a true local and showed us an amazing route of the city, helped us take pictures and get an overall view of the history of the country. The only problem we had is that he spoke quietly and a lot while walking, in combination with his rough accent, he was sometimes hard to follow.
Great City to see and a great route
We had a nice walk, but the guide was disappointing- the information was inconsistent, he spoke very quietly, his English was very hard to understand; he asked us the same question 6 times - do you speak German?- and although nobody spoke German he kept asking us this. Although the tour was supposed to last 2 hours it took him 2,5 hours to finish it. The route was good, the group was nice, but the guide was a disappointment.
