Duoc - Tour Guide in Ho Chi Minh City

Duoc was an earnest and knowledgeable guide. Generous with information, extremely helpful throughout the tour and engaging. He allowed time for questions, photos and little moments to soak in the surroundings. The length of the tour at 4 hours is a stretch though walking through the traffic and weather of Ho Chi Minh.

The tour guide was very friendly and his English was much better than others I encountered in this monopoly of tour operators in Ho Chi Minh. None of this reflects on him personally. Unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by the same chaotic, unorganized, and manipulative group that runs multiple tours across GuruWalk under different listings. ( for context I took the food tour with what I thought a different group but turned out to be the same group and left a somewhat detailed review there). I genuinely believed this tour was run by a different team, only to find out—yet again—it was the same group behind all the issues I described in my other review about the food tour. The constant rescheduling, the pressure, the forced time changes, and the push for extra payments all resurfaced here as well. It’s impossible to enjoy a tour when you’re being bounced around, contacted nonstop, and treated like your time doesn’t matter. By this point, it was clear: this isn’t a coincidence, it’s a cartel-style setup where one unorganized group controls multiple tours and mismanages them all. The experience left me feeling stressed, harassed, and completely let down. Ho Chi Minh City has amazing history and culture, but this group soured that part of my visit. I strongly recommend avoiding any GuruWalk tour in Ho Chi Minh, because you may very well end up dealing with this same shady operation. Friendly guide, though a more proactive and in depth explanation of the Museum was lacking. Terrible management — overall, a deeply disappointing experience.

We had a very informative tour and learned a lot about the history of Vietnam!

This tour was very emotional and educational. Mr. Anh is passionate about the history of his country and has a lot of stories to share, in every place he took us to. He was really captivating and it was as we could feel and see the events of the past while he was presenting them. A must do in Ho Chi Minh for anyone who is willing to really connect with the Vietnamies history and mindset.

I just had one spare day in Saigon and wanted to get a dose of history and Duoc helped me to get that exactly. He was charming and informative and very very supportive. I would greatly recommend this tour.
