I’m a native San Franciscan born and raised in the city. My parents were immigrants from China, and San Francisco’s Chinatown was their point of entry into the United States.
I started giving tours of SF because I’ve had great experiences taking free walking tours during my travels across the world (50+ countries).
I’m a foodie at heart and have my own food blog, Instagram, and Yelp account, and I’ve written a review for every restaurant I’ve visited in the last 9 years! That means that I know the best local places in the city to take visitors to.
Eduardo's tour was one of the BEST tours I've ever taken on Guruwalk. He focuses on a neighborhood that is not frequented by international tourists, but it's worth the journey out here for a unique and unforgettable experience! Eduardo grew up in Barra, and he started by giving us a detailed overview of the history of the neighborhood in the context of the development of Rio. He has a PhD in Anthropology, and his deep expertise and passion showed in all of the explanations he gave. We walked to a gastronomic street and sat down at two different restaurants, where he ordered iconic dishes for us to try, and he provided detailed explanations of the stories and history behind the dishes and drinks. Even after our delicious meal, the experience still went on! We took a short boat ride to Gigóia island and discovered a car-free oasis. Who knew that a place like this even existed in the city? We strolled around the tiny island before it was finally time to say good-bye, and we walked away having learned so much about the area from a passionate local expert, all while enjoying delicious food and making new friends!
Bill was a friendly local guide, and his Shanghai highlights tour was a great way to get acquainted with the city. He spoke excellent English and was funny and informative at the same time. Highly recommend his tour!
Medi was an awesome guide for our visit to Helsinki. His explanations were humorous and engaging, and he really opened our eyes to the unique aspects of Finnish culture. He took us to all of the main tourist sights in the city center but a memorable highlight was seeing the Central Library, which gave us an inside look at an important piece of Finnish culture! Highly recommend his tour!
Arman's tour was one of the best tours I've ever taken! He's so knowledgeable about Yerevan and Armenia and explained all of the sights in the city clearly, connecting aspects of Armenian history, culture, politics, and more! He was also so friendly and adaptable to our group's needs and questions--this is a must-take tour to get oriented to Armenian culture, and it will make you curious to learn more!
This is a fun, easy-going tour with Adis, a friendly, knowledgeable local, who told us all about Bosnian history as we explored the multicultural old town of Sarajevo. Some of the highlights included visiting a coppersmith shop and hearing the story of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. Adis also provided restaurant and sightseeing recommendations for our time in Sarajevo!
