Luiz war sehr sympathisch.

Just a brilliant day, that's it! If you're concerned heading into a favela then.. don't be. At least not with Luiz. It was very obvious, that the route he chose was among people he knew. The way locals greeted him underlined this. We asked loads of loads of loads of questions, and Luiz took time to answer them all. At some point he got very emotional, so without a question this place means a lot to him - good and bad. When finishing the tour we ended up right outside the favela. Looking up at the favela we realised, that we actually felt way more safe in the favela itself, that right outside. No joke.

Luiz changed the time of the walk for my convenience. I am so glad he did. It's impossible to understand Rio de Janeiro without understanding the favella. You couldn't find a better guide for this than Luiz.Not only did he facilitate understanding but he conveyed the necessary information to return alone. If you want to see all of Rio, don't miss this. I didn' t just feel safe with Luiz I felt welcomed. 110%

Luiz spoke very good English and was accommodating. He is from the favela so he had a good knowledge of the area. I was happy with the tour and will not hesitate to recommend it to others.
