Eine allein reisende Frau, die seit 27 Jahren in Amsterdam lebt und seit 2011 Touren leitet. Ich liebe es, die Schönheit der Stadt Amsterdam mit Touristen zu teilen. Außerdem bin ich Gründerin eines Reiseblogs und verbringe meine Freizeit damit, über meine Reiseabenteuer zu schreiben, wie zum Beispiel Alleinreisen in Tansania und Kenia, Tauchen mit Walhaien in Thailand oder die Ausbildung zur Tauchlehrerin auf Bali. Reisen und in andere Kulturen eintauchen, ihre Lebensweisen und Perspektiven verstehen, ist die fehlende Säule in unseren Bildungssystemen. Ich glaube, dass Reisen ein kulturell umfassendes Erlebnis sein sollte. Brücken zwischen Ländern und Kulturen zu bauen und dabei gegenseitige Unterschiede zu respektieren, kommt nicht nur dem Reisenden, sondern auch den gastgebenden Gemeinden zugute.
We were there early, as the guildline said to be there 15 minutes before the start. The guide showed up at 8 pm and we were standing right in front of her and she texted and asked where we were. We replied and she still didn’t seem to notice us and called us on WhatsApp. Finally I went across the street and she said she was confused with another reservation. When I mentioned that we had been waiting there for a while because of the guideline, she said she never tells her clients to come before 8 PM and it says so in her email. So I called up the only email I got and ask her where it said that, because it didn’t say not to come before 8 PM. Then she got very annoyed and started raising her voice to tell me not to be rude. At that point, she still hadn’t introduced herself or greeted us to tell us anything about the tour; and we felt that her attitude and body language was just so unprofessional and unacceptable. So we told her we were leaving, and did the tour on our own. We would strongly suggest that she improves her attitude and how she engages with her client, if she still wants to be a guide. She reflects very badly on the company she works with. I would never hire someone like that in any businesses that I have ownerships in.
Very interesting tour! The red light district in Amsterdam is a very intriguing and unique place. I really enjoyed how the tour guide talked about past, present and also future of this place.
