Hi there! My name is Hermine (yes, like Hermione) and I can't wait to introduce you to my little corner of the globe. As a travel nut and art historian, I love finding interesting stories wherever I go. But what's even better, is sharing them with you! Beware though: I don't take things too seriously. If you're looking for a tourguide to tell you facts and figures as dry as the Atacama desert, you're better off elsewhere. It's the juicy stories and local legends that make a place come to life. So put on your walking boots and come join me!

Tour description

A city is made of more than just stones. It’s the juicy stories and local legends that make a place truly come alive. Explore the historic centre of Bruges through the tales that have been told here for centuries.

Discover what’s really behind the fairytale facade of this medieval town. From star-crossed lovers to water demons, cackling witches with a peculiar sense of humour and the devil himself: you’ll meet them all along the way.

During this tour, we'll come across some of the most beloved sights in the city, whilst veering off the beaten track every now and then. After all, we go where the legend takes us.

What was up with mr. Antonio’s delicious pies? Why is a mythical king flying through town on a massive beer barrel? And what’s that mysterious shape floating through the city’s canals?

Join me and find out!

Places with a tale to tell:

  • Van Eyckplein
  • Spinolarei
  • Gouden Handrei
  • Café Vlissinghe
  • Adornesdomein
  • Burg
  • Blinde Ezelstraat
  • Rozenhoedkaai
  • Bonifaciusbridge
  • ...

The tour takes about 1,5 to 2 hours. Afterwards, I'm happy to give you some local advice on Bruges and Belgium. I'll point you to the best chocolates in town, the bar with the most beers to try and any other tips you need. The tour finishes right next to the Church of Our Lady, perfectly located to continue your visit.
