Tour description
Introducing
Formerly known as Amoy, Xiamen has been dubbed as China’s “most romantic leisure city”—a holiday here is akin to “teasing time” or making it stand still. We can meander through boulevards lined with century-old colonial buildings, gaze at magnificent seascapes, and relax at a 24-hour bookstore at night —all within a single day.
What to expect at this tour
1. Take Things Slow at Gulangyu Island
Gulangyu Island is a rustic car-free paradise—perfect for those seeking to dial down life’s frenetic pace by a few notches. A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, Gulangyu offers visitors a sanctuary of tranquil beaches, colourful alleyways, and historic Victorian architecture.
⚠️ Ferry ticket to the island not included: RMB40($5.5).
2. Visit South Putuo Temple
A famous temple in southern Fujian offers excellent scenery with beautiful peaks on its back and facing a dark blue seaport. Located in front of Wulao Peak, one of the eight scenic spots in Xiamen, from here, you may have a 30-50 minutes’ wonderful short hike to the top of Wulao Peak along the trail behind the temple to have a panoramic view of Xiamen University, the twin towers of Xiamen and the vast sea.
3.Enjoy Seafood at Bashi Market
If you enjoy sea-to-plate meals and are feeling famished, make a beeline for Bashi—also known as Xiamen’s eighth market, it is the city's largest and most popular seafood market.
