Walking Tour of The Heart of Valparaíso
Tour description
I was planning in taking you through the original route I crafted for my first tours of B-side Valparaíso back in 2012 —but it’s a bit too long for a 3-hour walking tour.
So I thought for a while about how to mix the traditional, tourist Valparaíso and its B-side, and to make it fit into a max 3-hour walking tour and include all of what makes Valparaíso so unique: vibrant, ever-changing street art; diverse, colorful architecture; scenic viewpoints; and a rich history of ups and downs.
I pictured the route in my mind and it looked like ♡heart; it doesn’t on a real map, though :)
We’ll go around the block, walking in kind of a circle, that starts and ends at Lukas Square (next to the Reina Victoria Funicular’s upper station), walking through Alegre, Concepción, Cárcel, and Panteón Hills.
This is the route:
★Casa Vander & Lukas Square
★Dimalow Alley & LRM Mural
★St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral
★Templeman Street & ‘We Are Not Hippies, We Are Happies’ Mural
★San Enrique Street (cabblestones & mansions)
★Montealegre Street & ‘Native Chile’ Mural
★Alemania Avenue
★Bismarck Square (mosaics & lookout)
★The Former Prison (Valparaíso Cultural Park)
★Panteón Hill (first Valparaíso cemeteries)
★Cumming Street
★Reina Victoria Funicular
★Lukas Square
The Reina Victoria Funicular fee is $100 (Chilean pesos) and must be paid directly by each participant with cash.
