FREE TOUR OF MIRANDA DEL CASTAÑAR: HISTORY AND MAIN MONUMENTS.
On this walk through the streets of Miranda del Castañar we will discover its long history and the most important buildings in the municipality.
We will observe the carved lintels , its multitude of noble shields and part of the 630m of wall that surrounds the old town.
Located in the heart of the Sierra de Francia region, within a Natural Park and also declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, Miranda is one of the 6 Historical Sites located in this area, as well as being one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain.
The visit begins in the Plaza Mayor , which is called the Bullring and which still serves that purpose today, under the watchful eye of the keep of the Zúñiga Castle .
We will pass by the Town Hall which was once used as an old grain warehouse (if you don't know what it was, I will tell you what was done there).
We will walk along its main street and part of the Camino de Ronda.
We will discover the location of such important buildings as the old butcher's shop , the Casa del Escribano , the Church of Santiago and San Ginés de Arlés and its bell tower ... freestanding!
I will tell you how the festivities in honor of the Virgen de la Cuesta are experienced, declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in Castilla y León.
We will finish the visit in the Church Square after a 1-hour tour.
