Tour description
Join Kate's Tours for a unique and immersive guided walking tour of Kilkenny City. This is the perfect introduction for first-time visitors, offering a comprehensive exploration of the city’s rich history, stunning architecture, and charming streets. We’ll begin outside the Kilkenny Castle gates, where I’ll introduce the day’s journey and provide fascinating insights into the city. We’ll then stroll through the castle grounds, stopping by the Butler’s Grave, the rose garden, and the dungeon, all while learning about the Butler family’s legacy. Along the way, we’ll pass by notable sites like the Kilkenny Design Centre and The Parade, as well as other landmarks including St. Canice’s Cathedral and St. Canice’s Church (where we’ll step inside to explore its rich interior). The tour also includes visits to the Black Abbey (interior) and St. Mary’s Cathedral, where you’ll discover their fascinating history. We’ll walk through James Street, Kieran’s Street, and pass by Kytler’s Inn, Tynan’s Bar, and the Hurling Statue while I share interesting stories behind each location. To top it all off, I’ll be there to guide you to the best photo spots throughout the tour and will even take some photos for your social media, if you're comfortable.
