Free Tour of the surprisingly interesting history of Bruges
Have you ever visited a city and went on a tour and learned about when the museum opened and that's kind of all you remembered? Well, I have. There is definitely a place for this kind of tourism, but I was tired of this very informative but kind of boring approach to touring and thought I knew I could do it better.
I chose the city of Bruges, often referred to as the Venice of the North. Instead of where and how to spend your money, I found stories of the murders of Counts, love stories within the Hapsburg monarchy, and how the city gained economic prowess (Hint: the answer is SHEEP [I know it isn't a hint, but]). All of these stories will be explained and more! Best of all, I do this free of charge. Like no heavily recommended tips or anything (although a few bucks wouldn't hurt). Pretty awesome. We will pass by the St. Salvator's Cathedral, meander through the ancient Burg, gawk at the Belfry, and finish at the Church of our Lady. Hopefully by the end, you'll remember stories you can pass along to your friends if you ever come back to Bruges (I suggest December, unless you're cold blooded).
I hope to see you guys there!
