Free tour of Le Marais and Bastille
Tour description
Do you know medieval Paris? To discover it, we recommend taking this free tour of Le Marais.
Dead ends, narrow lanes …
The first stop will be the Shoah Memorial, the first Jewish documentation centre in Europe, which played a pivotal role in the Nuremberg trials.
Next, we will go to the garden of the Hôtel de Sens. We will talk about this charming palace where Queen Margot lived. If we look closely, we will see graffiti from the 19th century on its façade.
We will continue the route in Le Village Saint-Paul, a small medieval village. We will discover its past and then we will face a challenge: enter a dead end and leave it without turning back. How will we succeed?
We will then go and discover one of the three treasures of Le Marais. We have just one clue: it is the only painting by Delacroix that is not in a museum. After unraveling this mystery, we will stop in front of the imposing façade of the Hôtel de Sully, an elegant Louis XIII style palace dating from the 17th century.
This will take us to a large square. From there we will continue the route to another emblematic esplanade. This is the Place de la Bastille, where the French Revolution began.
