What's more enjoyable than welcoming visitors from around the world and sharing with them the beauty and the rich heritage of Tangier and Morocco! One of the few female tour guides in the region, my tours are family friendly and enable you to enjoy off the beaten path tours and experiences.
Let’s travel back to the 15th century and explore the Kasbah and its streets where many events happened centuries ago.
We will walk through the streets of the Kasbah and learn about the history of the places that we will visit including the archeological museum that used to be a Palace for Sultans since the 17th century.
Continue to the vibrant Medina and walk through markets including the food/fish market that you will LOVE.
Along the way, stop by the Petit Socco, the Mendoubia gardens and the Grand Socco.
End the tour with some free time for shopping or sipping mint tea in one of the legendary cafés of Petit Socco while people watching.
Entrance fees (optional):
- Kasbah museum of Mediterranean Cultures: €2/person
- American Legation: €5/person
I will be wearing my badge and waiting at the main entrance of Bab Kasbah gate.
As soon as we meet here, I will share information about the history if the kasbah, and then we will start our walking tour.
Having served as a palace for the Moroccan Sultans since the 17th century, this museum holds now many interesting remains that date from prehistory.
One of the gates of the Kasbah, Bab Bhar is the place from which you can enjoy the view over the strait of Gibraltar, Spain as well as the port of Tangier.
After a walk through the alleyways of the medina, we will make it to the famous Petit Socco, one of the busiest parts of the medina, with its cafés and shops.
Now, it’s time to visit Grand Socco, and its nearby food market where the locals buy fish, veggies, spices, olives, goat cheese…
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
