Tour description

This tour is about Chicago architecture and the hidden places that only locals know about. You will discover a new look of the city after a brief history of past events that made the city one of the most beautiful cities of the world. The tour will last between 2 o 3 hours depending on the pace of the group. The starting point will be in the front of Wrigley building as showing on the map below. From there we will cross the Michigan Ave bridge and enter the Pedway to find out what the city has hidden below the streets. We will come out by block 37 and from there we will start exploring the magnificent buildings in the loop area. The tour will finish by the beginning of the famous route 66.

    Wrigley Building

    Over 100 years old building, being the first major office building north of the Chicago River. Chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr. hand selected the oddly shaped lot for the headquarters of the Wrigley Company.

    DuSable Bridge

    Next to the bridge you will find the sculpture titled The Defense dated 1928 by the artist Henry Hering. Parsian-influenced limestone-clad bridge towers at each corner are like giant gateposts representing Chicago's historical origins as people and traffic approached.

    Carbide & Carbon Building

    Champagne bottle shape official name Pendry Hotel was completed in 1929. Style art Deco. Carbide and Carbon Company developed the first dry cell battery, needed a regional headquarters to house its rapidly expanding business.

    Chicago Pedway

    The Chicago pedway is the downtown Pedestrian walkway system links more than 40 blocks covering roughly 5 miles. It began in 1951 when the city of Chicago built one-block tunnels connecting the Red Line and Blue line subways at Washington St. and Jackson Boulevard.

    Muddy Waters Mural

    By Eduardo Kobra, Brazilian street artist, completed in 2016. In June 2017 the mural was dedicated to the city with a musical celebration and ceremony featuring a performance by Muddy Waters legacy band, which kicked off the Annual Chicago Blues Festival.

    It is the only church in the world located at the base and in the upmost floors of the Chicago Temple Building, a skyscraper in Chicago.

    Chicago Board of Trade Building

    The female figure standing 45 stories above La Salle Street is iconic image for most Chicagoans. It repicks Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture, a honor of the commodities exchanged in the Chicago Board of Trade building below by artist John H. Storrs.
