Hello, everyone. My name is Slaven and I come from Zagreb. I would love to show you around my city. I love its austro-hungarian heritage and unique history. I offer tours in English, Italian and German.
How did Zagreb come to be what it is? Was it really excluded from the rest of european history for most of its existence? How did it come to have two distinct parts, Upper and Lower Town, and what is the difference between them? Which building in Zagreb originally stood in Budapest?
This tour tells the story of the development of Zagreb, focusing on the period around 1900, on the creation of its landmarks, the ideas behind the layout of the city, as well as the scandals and gossip hiding behind the stately facades and the riots and unrest of that era, things that usually go unmentioned.
It takes the tourist from the Main Railway Station up to the cathedral and back down to the State Archive, where it ends.
If you are interested in hearing what most guides often don't say, love social and cultural history, art history and architecture, this is the tour for you, I promise.
By the King Tomislav Monument. I will be carrying a small black umbrella.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
