Tour description

How did Zagreb come to be what it is? Was it really excluded from the rest of european history for most of its existence? How did it come to have two distinct parts, Upper and Lower Town, and what is the difference between them? Which building in Zagreb originally stood in Budapest? What did the people of Zagreb bet on once?

This tour tells the story of the development of Zagreb, focusing on the period around 1900, on the creation of its landmarks, the ideas behind the layout of the city, as well as the scandals and gossip hiding behind the stately facades and the riots and unrest of that era, things that usually go unmentioned.

It takes the tourist from the Main Railway Station up to the cathedral and back down to the State Archive, where it ends.

If you are interested in hearing what most guides often don't say, love social and cultural history, art history and architecture, this is the tour for you, I promise.
