Hello. My name is Julia & I'm originally from beautiful Austria. I've been living in London for just over four years now - always with small interruptions, thanks to Brexit & Covid. While I work in advertising in "real life", in my free time I pursue one of my greatest passions & that is food. For me, there is no better way to explore a city as diverse as London than through the many different flavors that have shaped this city over the last few centuries.
Hello. I'm Julia and I would love to introduce you to the history and culture of London through one of its most exciting aspects: the food scene.
In my tour we walk through the tourist center of London, but instead of "just" walking past the classic sights, we look for the more hidden stories, all of which have something to do with the topic of food or gastronomy.
For example, have you ever wondered why the British are so crazy about their tea and what it all has to do with the elegant department store Fortnum & Mason?
Or are you interested in the history of Chinatown and why Asian food plays such an important role in British culture?
Or instead of just talking about history - what does the latest immigration policy & Brexit, have to do with Italian arancini?
If you find these questions interesting, I would be very happy to tell you all the answers in my tour.
While hearing a lot about food during this tour, you will also have time to try things yourself. There are some "snack breaks" included in the toor, during which you can decide yourself whether your want to try something or not. The costs for those are not included in the tour.
Meeting place: At the Fountain at Piccadilly Circus (Tube Station: Picadilly Circus). Easy to recognize, as it's the square with the big advertising screens. You'll recognize me easily, thanks to a green avocado umbrella.
