On this free tour of Orihuela we will discover one of the cities with the most history and rich heritage in the province of Alicante. It will surprise you!
At the indicated time we will meet in the Plaza de Santiago de Orihuela. In front of the church of Santiago Apóstol we will begin this tour of the Alicante city to see its main architectural jewels.
After marveling at the Elizabethan Gothic style façade of the Santiago church, we will enter the streets of the historic center of Orihuela . We will pass imposing palaces and ancient sanctuaries, and we will learn about all of them about their exciting history.
And if Orihuela is known for something, it is for being the hometown of Miguel Hernández . As it could not be otherwise, we will enter the neighborhood that saw the playwright grow up and become one of the most important figures of Spanish poetry of the 20th century . We will walk through the streets and squares that inspired the poet of the generation of '36 and we will relax along the banks of the Segura River .
We will also reveal curiosities about the festivities and gastronomy of Orihuela . For example, did you know that one of their most popular dishes is crusted rice ? You must have gotten hungry!
Two hours later we will conclude the tour in front of the diocesan school of Santo Domingo . Don't forget to ask the guide for recommendations about restaurants or other interesting places to visit in Orihuela!
