Freemasonry and Revolution in Río de la Plata
Tour description
During the 18th century, Europe was going through drastic transformations. The Spanish monarchy had fallen into the hands of Napoleon and the English feared for the American territories. War on the seas was inevitable. Spanish America wanted to become independent, but Spain was desperate to maintain its monopolies. Meanwhile a group of men were secretly plotting the "Great American Reunion" in London. There, Francisco de Miranda, Simón Bolívar, Bernardo de O'Higgins and Jose de San Martin, agreed on a continental plan that would change history forever. Aboard an English frigate, a group of them departed to Buenos Aires, which under signs, words and secret touches, undertook a risky mission: the freedom of South America.
