Free Tour Playa de Las Canteras and Puerto de la Luz area + Canarian Ronmiel Tasting
Tour description
In this tour, we explore the most contemporary part of the capital of Gran Canaria and its fascinating beaches. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to taste the authentic Canarian Ronmiel.
With our official guide, you will embark on a journey through time from the first landings by the Castilian conquerors to the current sports and commercial uses of Puerto La Luz or Las Palmas, the largest in the Canary Archipelago and one of the most important goods distribution hubs in Spain.
We will tell you about the different pirate attacks and conquest attempts in their original setting: El Castillo de la Luz, the first defensive fortification of the city and an emblematic place that today houses the Martín Chirino artistic foundation. Very close to the homonymous chapel where the first mass on the island took place: Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Luz.
On a pleasant walk along the urban beach of Las Canteras, we will learn about the volcanic past and some of its results, such as the impressive Confital beach, from one of its viewpoints.
To finish, we will visit the Mercado del Puerto, a place that was once a melting pot of cultures, this old square that supplied for years the workers of the most important port in the archipelago.
