Local History of one of Norway's Southern-most cities. Founded officially in 1641, but with a history much older than this,
Kristiansand has been a strategically important city throughout Norwegian history. Whether it be a conflict with the Hanseatic league of Germany, Viking raiders, World War 2, and countless other historical events, Kristiansand has had a front-row seat to some of the most momentous events in Northern European History.
Come with me and learn some interesting local history, alongside the great sweeping historical events that rocked the region.
The tour should only take an hour and a half to two hours and will show the historic downtown, church, and 17th-century fortresses as well as the German bunkers from World War 2.

Walk down the historic high street of Kristiansand and learn a bit about the local history and architecture. Including an oddly historic McDonald's.
An originally 17th century fortress that saw battle during the Napoleonic Wars.
Fisherman's Wharf. A fishing platform and then tourist attraction originally from the 1930s.
The "Western Gun Battery" built by the Germans in WW2, part of four gun batteries built to halt a presumed Allied invasion during the war that never came.
