Small Group Walking Tour, max 12 guests. Big Ben Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament and much more
Tour description
London Small Groups Westminster highlights includes Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey Abbey and Big Ben to name but a few. I take only a maximum 12 walkers. Not like those big crowds you see round one guide. This makes the tour more personal and plenty of opportunity for you to ask questions and going at the group's pace.
Visit the essential sights, walk the red mall, selfies outside Buckingham Palace, and wander through King Henry VIIIs hunting ground.
Enter London's smallest square where gun duals and bear baiting were common. Need more selfies? I will show you the best and original red telephone boxes. Come with me to guide you back in time for a sense of what London has experienced over the centuries.
Please bear in mind that the tour may over run on Monday Wednesday and Fridays when there is Changing of the Guard
I am local having been born and lived in London all my life. I have had many jobs but guiding through London is the most rewarding and exciting.
Join me on this 2-hour walk and I will give you the inside tips on where to eat, drink and shop. (occasionally if the group agree we add extra stops for even more interest)
- Stops on this tour usually include:
- Starting at Trafalgar Square. See all the hidden and not-so-hidden gems of Trafalgar Square. Learn about its history and take some great photos at the fountains.
- Admiralty Arch, The Mall. View the arch close up next to the hidden "offence to London architecture" in plain sight.
- Stop at King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Memorial
- See some great sculptures, and listen to royal stories. As well as viewing the original gas lamps up close.
- Stop at St. James's Palace. Many a great story to be told at this royal residence. A Tudor marvel originating from the 13th Century. Site of royal proclamations and home to ancient royal baby-swapping scandal.
- Immerse yourself in days gone by in Pickering Place. Time permitting we pop into this colourful little court yard and are transported back to the 1700s
- On to ionic Buckingham Palace, Dominion Gates, gas lamps and the famous Golden Monument. Listen to stories from Queen Victoria and how Buckingham Palace came into being. Time for photos and a climb up the golden Victoria Monument.
- Then wonder through st. James's Park
- If the group agrees we can divert through to Whitehall to take a peek at Downing Street home to the UKs Prime Minister
- Find out how you would have got your syllabub and what a syllabub is. The exotic animals which have lived in the park and how it is integral to St James Palace's history. A history of who walked through on the way to his death, the animals and how Royal St James's Park came to be. Great photo opportunities on the bridge and by the lake.
- Finally arriving at Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Parliament Square World Unesco Herrtiage site and Westminster Abbey
Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
Must see buildings to finish your tour at the 900 years old Westminster Hall. Where kings have been beheaded and others have played tennis.
