On our Carnation Revolution Tour we will visit the emblematic places of the movement that overthrew the Salazar dictatorship, led by expert historians who will explain who its protagonists were and how those hours of hope and uncertainty were lived.
We will visit the points where the first armed confrontations between revolutionary forces and the defenders of the dictatorship took place, such as Rua do Arsenal .
Next, we will move towards Rossio , where the protesters gathered, and we will discover Celeste Caeiro and why carnations became a symbol of this revolution.
We will also pass by the old headquarters of Radio Renascença , from which the song Grândola Vila Morena was broadcast, a revolutionary hymn that functioned as a code signal for soldiers from all over the country to join the movement.
We will visit the old headquarters of the PIDE , the political police of the dictatorship, and the place from which fire was opened against the protesters and where the only four deaths of this revolution occurred.
We will stop before the Cuartel do Carmo , the place where the dictator Marcelo Caetano entrenched himself, and where he surrendered.
