A HIKE with a VIEW! - views of beautiful Whakatū and the Bay
Tour description
We will meet on The Broads playing feilds and walk up a hill (or a mountain) and catch some nice views of Whakatū (Nelson) and Tasman Bay.
I am 65 so if you want to go up a hill with me then it will be at only a moderate pace.
The walk will take us up 300 metres through the bush pathways of The Grampians Reserve to a viewing platform. There are lots of wild passionfruit and some beautiful kahikatea trees that are around 500 years old. The walk-up takes about an hour and there is a toilet at the top! (If you need it).
The views from the viewing platform are of Nelson City, Tasman Bay, and The Arthur and Pikikiruna Ranges - and another windy track (that's windy not windy ;^) leads us to downtown Nelson and cafes serving some of the best coffee on the planet! We will go at an easy pace.
You should wear some good walking shoes, always bring water, and take a jacket if it's not sunny or a sunhat if it is.
Also; there are many hilly options around Nelson (and some mountainous ones too!) for great views and local companionship. One walk I do is a bit suburban (hilly though!) and ends up at the beach -where there are cafes! Another ends up downtown - where there are even more cafes!
