Rio From Above Free Walking Tour
Tour description
Hello explorers! Welcome to Rio!
My name is Guilherme (the Portuguese version of William for those who struggle to say that haha) and I am born and raised at the heart of the wonderful city of Rio de Janeiro.
On this tour, you will experience a mix of history, nature, and Instagramable sights, of course!
All of that will be done like a local, passing through some secret sights tourists never go...
We will meet at the bottom of one of the most famous mountains of the city, the Sugar Loaf. This place, despite of its breathtaking beauty, also holds a lot of landmarks of the early days of Rio, going back to the Colonial Era.
Seazing the low-cost mindset of taking a free tour, we will climb the Morro da Urca hill through a hiking trail that lasts from 30 to 45 minutes inside our beautiful Mata Atlântica biome, which holds one of the most diverse fauna and flora of the world and tells us a lot of the city as well. This hike will save you lots of dollars on the "bondinho" (our famous cable car), which you can choose to take afterward towards the Sugar Loaf or to go downhill.
The top of the Morro da Urca hill will have all the structure you need with restaurants, shops, and both free bathrooms and water refill.
From up there we are going to enjoy a lot of different sights:
- Aterro do Flamengo
- Centro (City Center)
- Aeroporto Santos Dumont
- Ponte Rio-Niterói and Niterói city
- Praia Vermelha
- Praia de Botafogo
- Suger Loaf (Pão de Açúcar)
- Cristo Redentor (1 of the 7 wonders of the modern world)
