Hi! My name is Minka, I was born in Ljubljana and I am the biggest fan of my city, so I did all of my 7.000 tours with great joy and a big smile. I traveled to more than 60 countries, including going on the expedition as the First Slovene woman to the North Pole and I am always happy to come back to my hometown. Guiding, traveling and dancing is my passion. Learn the secrets of my city, learn about locals like me, what drives Slovenes to extreme achievements, and learn about customs and traditions. Let me guide you on a path through Ljubljana to an unforgettable moments on your trip.
This Grand tour is unique experience held in "Small groups". The most common opinion is "the best tour ever", so make sure you don't miss it.
We start on the spot where is easier to imagine the development of my city through different periods. Listen to stories about life in Ljubljana at different stages, so you can make your picture of how people were living, walking, working, eating, and being social in the middle ages or any other period. Through the funny, attractive, remarkable story you can get to know the city very well with all its hidden gems, secrets, and special places.
On a tour I do show you all the main sights in the Old part of Ljubljana:
And on the way, I show you hidden spots, less known stories, and small secrets like:
Present for Emperor Franz Josef
Famous shining nose
House where Napoleon was sleeping
Formal pig market
Optical Illusion
and many more things
In a simple, easy way you will get to know our greatest Slovene architect Plečnik, whose many works you can see also in Prague. Combining stories, hidden secrets, and Plečnik's influence on the city, your love for Ljubljana will grow. You never know, you might love it so much, that you stay in Ljubljana longer or forever. A little girl got the name Ljubljana because her parents loved the city so much.
Come and let me show you what I consider the most beautiful city in the world.
We do a circle and we finish on Congress Square. The tour takes 1 hour and 45 min. And I stay some extra minutes for all your burning questions.
I meet you at the Vurnik house, which is a red house in front of the Grand Hotel Union on Miklošičeva street 8. In case of rain, you can find a passage (and roof) on the left side of the main entrance, just next to the shop with clothes. If it is not raining you can wait for me at the Max Mara sign at the right end of Vurnik house. I have long blond hair and around my neck, you will see my card license for Ljubljana or Slovenia, with my name and photo.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
