I am Rebeca, a Galician based in La Gomera. I am a tourism graduate and my passion has always been to investigate and tell stories, which is why I became a tour guide. I love hiking and above all, sharing new experiences with different people.
This tour is a journey through time through the history of the island of La Gomera, more specifically, its capital, San Sebastián.
During the tour we will discover the history of the ancient
Gomerans with characters such as Hautacuperche, Hupalupa, Yballa and the resistance to Castilian colonization, in addition to all the stories and legends recovered thanks to the oral tradition of the Gomeran people.
We will learn about the adventures of Christopher Columbus before embarking on the expedition to America and the reasons why San Sebastián was the last place before leaving the ground
Spanish. To do this, we will visit different monuments related to this historical milestone , such as the statue of Columbus located on the avenue of the discoverers, the Plaza de las Américas. In addition, while we tour the historic center of San Sebastián, we will pay special attention to the Canarian architecture and how colorful its streets are until we reach the Plaza de la Iglesia de la Asunción, the nerve center of the Colombian capital and witness to a lot of history.
We will explain the different invasions and attacks by corsairs and pirates on the town, we will admire the wonderful architecture of the church and the interior chapels, especially the Pilar chapel, which
It houses the possibly oldest mural in the Canary Islands.
Finally, we will talk about the whistle , intangible world heritage by UNESCO and a short introduction to the Garajonay National Park , also a world heritage.
We will conclude with the news of life in La Gomera, its folklore and its gastronomy , in addition to its festivals, known throughout the Canary Islands.
I'll be by the Tower, near an old well. I will carry my accreditation as a guide, which is recognized for being turquoise blue
