Modern architecture of Split - Free walking tour
Tour description
The architecture and urban planning of the second half of the 20th century should have been the catalyst for the transformation and modernization of society.
In Croatia , these projects were extremely ambitious and some of the finest works of modern architecture were created and built.
But this modernization remained unfinished. The architecture of the house is one of the main goals of the modernization of society after the Second World War due to the increasing number of people who came to the cities, which is why large urbanizations were built almost all over the world. The most difficult task was designing a home that doesn't just become an alienating bedroom.
In Split , the largest post-war city on the Adriatic, there is intense urban sprawl. The city with 40,000 inhabitants grows fivefold and reached the number of 220,000 inhabitants in the 1980s.
Split gradually begins to expand and the most complete realization of urban architectural culture in Croatia begins to emerge as a result of knowledge and experience from various sources. The big expansion is called SPLIT 3;
All this and much more I will tell you during the hour and a half tour, showing you all the architectural works and corners of this city.
The tour starts from the university campus, in front of the library, we continue down the main street to the square.
I invite you to wander around and see our country's most distinguished architectural works.
