Cadiz Free Tour (Gadir, Gades, Qadis)
Tour description
The itinerary that I propose is a circular journey through all the stages of the history of this wonderful city: from Gadir, the oldest (Phoenician) city on the old continent, to Quadis, a very important port in Al-Andalus, passing through the Roman Gades, until reaching the great Cadiz of the Crown of Castile, a city that would reach its peak thanks to American trade. From here we will pass, almost without stopping, through the constitutional Cádiz of 1812, until we reach the current conformation of the city, given by the tourist boom that the town experienced in the 20th century.
The tour will take us to see the most striking and well-known monuments and corners of La Tacita (a wonderful nickname that the city has earned due to its geographical conformation), such as the Plaza San Juan de Dios, the Parque Genovés, the Gran Teatro Falla, Playa de la Caleta, Barrio de la Viña , with its sounds, colors and smells, to finish in the wonderful Cathedral of Santa Cruz , beautifully located on the shores of the Atlantic. But Cádiz is not only that and, therefore, the tour could not be either. Cádiz is also its beautiful Roman theatre, its Arab towers, its Phoenician coffins, the sounds of its flamenco couplets and the waves of the Atlantic, the smells of its fish, its shellfish, its central market... and the colors of its Carnivals..
