Hello everyone! I'm Rubén, official tour guide and guru of Madrid;), I'm 28 years old, I like to be called Rubens, I consider myself a "cat" (native of Madrid). I also collaborate with friends and family who help me on a timely basis with reservations. I have a degree in tourism and halfway through my history degree and at the moment I'm self-employed. I started to fall in love with the profession in 2019 thanks, in part, to my friend Aurora, but from 2020 onwards I worked with arkeotour which is a company that also helped me a lot, and then in 2021 I started doing the tours on my own and trying. You must keep in mind that Madzguía has only been active for a short time and many times the minimum number of necessary attendees is not reached, starting, as you well know, is not easy at all. I'm a fun guy, I consider myself close to people and I love exchanging opinions with travelers, since they can bring you experiences without having traveled outside of Madrid. I have travelled a bit around Europe and that has helped me to love this job, because in every corner there is always a story to tell and I think Madrid is a perfect city to teach all kinds of tours. It is a city full of life where everyone feels at home, for me it is one of the best cities in Spain and one of the best in the world. I have experience as a local guide, but I am very passionate about my job and I like to teach and explain events, for me it is the ideal job. That is why I think being able to work in my own city doing something I like as a local guide is a privilege.
This is a guided tour that covers the most interesting places and streets of the neighborhood where the Moorish quarter, crafts and shops were located in the Middle Ages.
Throughout the tour , many stories and legends of medieval Madrid will be told. This Madrid emerged to transform the city of water into the capital it is today. It is true that Madrid has few vestiges of this period, but we will see many of them in the Museum of Madrid of Origins whenever it is open.
Do you want to know the origins of the Emir Mohamed I park? Sign up and find out!
This is a tour between the La Latina and Austrias areas.
As long as it is open, we will visit the Museum of Origins to see the most interesting vestiges of Medieval Christian and Islamic Madrid.
We will visit some of the most popular squares in the neighborhood:
At least 5 people are required for the tour to take place.
Please do not book if you are less than 5 as I cannot guarantee the tour will take place.
For the night schedule (every day) at least 7 people are required.
The Museum of Origins is closed on Mondays and at night (every day) .
If you are bringing a pet, please let us know so we can make sure.
This tour includes liability insurance and additional explanatory material.
The tour ends at Plaza de la Paja
I will be in the Plaza de la Puerta Cerrada, near the statue of the cross with a sky-blue umbrella.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
