Picturesque Towns of Antigua Guatemala by Chicken Bus
Tour description
Participate in sustainable tourism and local support.
If your idea is to have unique experiences with ventures and destinations outside the conventional tourist scene, this is your option.
WE DO NOT REQUIRE OR REQUEST MINIMUM FEES.
Around Antigua are exceptional towns such as Santa María de Jesús and San Juan del Obispo. Both have been declared "picturesque towns."
Santa María de Jesús is an authentic Mayan town, with its market centered around the plaza and the Agua Volcano in its natural setting. The plaza and its syncretic church showcase a blend of religious rites and expressions. Local weddings, baptisms, and Mayan-style communions are held. Something out of this world.
San Juan del Obispo: A 16th-century town founded by Bishop Francisco Marroquín, where you can visit its former palace, plaza, and church from 1543. The beautiful surroundings and views of the Panchoy Valley and Antigua Guatemala are just some of the attractions. You can also enjoy the beautiful views of the Botanical Garden and the exceptional volcanoes of Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango.
To conclude, you'll have the unique experience of participating in the artisanal chocolate-making process with a local family dedicated to this craft, as well as tasting fruit liqueurs.
Finishing the central market of Antigua.
