Hello travelers! I'm Yolanda, the only and unique official licensed local guide in Besalú. I speak 5 languages and I'm currently improving in two more. I can guide you as an official licensed guide all around Catalonia, but I live in Besalú and I'm proud of this beautiful town full of history. I consider myself easy going and kind to people, adapting myself to the needs you may have during the tour. I love meeting and talking with people from other countries. I've traveled around the world and I have lived in different places. From Paris to Istanbul, passing through Miami :) Now I have chosen the country side to live, and Besalú is this little place full of history that I want you to discover. Big cities are ok but the history, beauty and tranquility of Besalú are unforgettable. You can not miss it. I'm waiting for you!!
You will enjoy the best tour of Besalú with the city's official guides. We are Official Guides of Catalonia and we live in this incredible small town of Besalú. We will let you discover the secrets of the Jewish community and the Miqvé, one of the oldest Jewish baths in the world. History, secrets and legends await you in Besalú. If you come on Tuesday, you can buy fresh products from the region at the weekly market. We begin the tour by crossing the beautiful 12th century bridge while we have an incredible panoramic view of Besalú and travel back in time. On the other side of the bridge, the narrow streets, medieval squares and old stone houses take us back to other times when the city was one of the most important in Catalonia. We will enter the Jewish quarter, and there the jewel of Besalú will welcome us with open arms: the Miqvé, the best preserved Jewish ritual bath in the world. From the synagogue square we will have a unique panoramic view of the Romanesque bridge. We continue to the old church of the Sant Pere monastery, consecrated more than 1000 years ago, the Romanesque Sant Julià pilgrim hospital and the mezuzah, which is preserved in one of the medieval buildings. We finished the tour after almost two hours of walking.
I'll wait for you at the entrance of the Romanesque bridge. I will wear my official yellow leader badge
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
