Walking through Mykonos, Jewel of Aegean Sea - Free Walking Tour
Tour description
Are you staying in Mykonos for some days, or only during your cruise stop? In this Free Walking Tour with GuruWalk, I'll show you what to see in Mykonos and the essential places which you can not miss. Our tour will start with the capital of Mykonos, Hora or Chora, in the eastern side of the Island. We will walk through its streets, in the form of a labyrinth, characterized by white cubic-shaped houses and balconies with colorful gardens. Here I will tell you details of this characteristic architecture, and also give you advice on some restaurants that are definitely worth trying. We will continue to the Little Venice of Mykonos, one of the favorite places of all those who visit us! Here you can take very good pictures of the colorful houses bordering the sea, built since the XVIII century. Did you know that the basements of these houses were used by pirates to take their treasures to the sea? These and other details I will tell you during this guruwalk. Our next stop will be the Church of Paraportiani, in reality 5 churches form this place considered as historical and cultural heritage, we will talk about its history and the importance that this place has for the Island. From here we will see our next stop, the 7 Windmills (including the famous Kato Myloi Mill), we will enjoy an excellent panoramic view of Mykonos, while I tell you stories of the Greek mythology related with this place. To finish, we will make a small "detour" and I will take you to the Old Port of Mykonos, where you will see many fishing boats and the traditional caique boat. If you stay several days in the Island, I advise you to return here to see a beautiful sunset while enjoying a refreshing Ouzo by the sea.
