The Latin Quarter of Paris is named after the famous Sorbonne University , It was common to hear students and teachers speak Latin. during medieval times.
With our guide you will learn about the student revolts of May 1968 and the key role played by the university during the “French May”. The presence of the university boosted the cultural development of the area, with some of the most famous cinemas, theatres, bookstores and concert halls in the capital, such as the Théâtre du Odéon or the cafés of Saint-Germain-des-Près , where the intellectuals of the left bank and other 20th century personalities met .
On our walk we will also come across churches as old as Saint-Séverin , famous for its slender tower and medieval bells, or Saint Sulpice , the largest in Paris after Notre Dame, and other places of great historical interest, such as the Cluny Museum , the Pantheon , the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens or the controversial Saint-Michel Fountain .
