Free walking tours in Tashkent

Javlon took us to the most amazing nature spot near Tashken. I would have never, ever be able to see this beautiful part of the Tashken area without this tour. He was such a pleasant and noble man. Don't miss this tour, it's very special!

It was very interesting to learn the history about what has and hasn’t been allowed as street art in Tashkent’s recent history, as well as the symbolism in the pieces. Donat did a great job of quickly setting the historical context and then we walked through a local, beautifully shaded suburb. It is a side of the city that not many tourists would otherwise venture to. We also appreciated his restaurant suggestion at the end of the tour.

If you are someone who loves to get out of the city and see majestic mountainous scenery, this is the tour for you. The day was a fun adventure on local transport, delicious Uzbek food with a view (vegetarian and vegan options available), and then a walk through a village to first reach a mosque before a wonderful vantage point of the valley and distant mountains (still with a little bit of snow!). Javlon was extremely responsive to the needs of the group and was even able to help us get to an added stop we requested of the Heliocomplex which is nearby. It was a beautiful day out, a cool escape from downtown Tashkent, and a chance to see where the locals go when they get away for a day-trip or holiday. Two tips for joining the tour: 1. While it’s still possible with only large som notes, try to bring some small denomination som bills to save waiting for change for the transport. 2. Plan for the day to extend beyond the four hours, particularly if you know you are a slower walker as four hours is the max time that currently can be listed on GuruWalk. Javlon never made us feel rushed, and we enjoyed lots of breaks to take in the view, appreciate the flowers, browse the market stalls and catch our breath from the steady slope. 3. While water is available for purchase at stalls, if you keep a hold of an empty bottle after lunch, Javlon will show you where it can be filled with cool mountain water.

Bakhtiyor took us from the ancient story of the first Coran, to modern discussions about cultura, religión and Uzbek society. 4 hours flew testing delicacies, taking private and public transport, enjoying the view from Uzbekistan Hotel's last floor a visiting an amazing Bazaar. 100% recommended!

This was an outstanding tour around Tashkent with Bakhtiyor, he was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his country, Tashkent has much history and so much to explore and he took us to all the main sites, it also included a couple of metro rides and taxi journeys ending at the Plov centre, would absolutely recommend to anyone coming to Tashkent

Very beautiful experience

Don is a great guide. Engaging, professional, superb orator. His style is interesting and enthusiastic with a loud clear voice. We loved the subway and the market. Was disappointed in the Old City but this isnt Don's fault. I also would have liked somehow to squeeze in a quick 20 mins of the religious aspects at the end covering the Hazrati Imam Complex. However, this is a review of the tour, not just of Don. If this was just a review of Don it would be 110%.

Brilliant tour! Mirwaheed was such a kind and gentle man with a beautiful soft spoken demeanor. His knowledge of the history and philosophy was extensive on the sites that we visited. He has alot of great insight into the history of Tashkent, current life and politics. Lovely objective observations. Fantastic time was had by everyone. We booked for 5 and it was a private tour.

Very good tour guide, friendly and helpful. Knows a lot about the history and culture. Also helped us get a phone back when we accidentally left it in a taxi, and stayed through the entire process :) The food samples and activities were really good.
