I declined from joining the tour as Guru Gavin set a precondition in explicit direct terms that he would like us to pay AUD 30 as tip, and even said AUD 5-10 is not welcome. He explained that this is because he donates part of his earnings to his charity. I want to ask you: We all have our personal charities. Please go ahead and help your charity but don’t set such preconditions on your walkers. Your charity's objectives may not be what I would like to endorse. I give to my own charity from my earnings, I don't tell my livelihood suppliers to pay me extra for this. I think Gavin's message sounded like a diktat and is not very welcome, in fact pretty rude from the sound of it. It defeats the purpose of a free tour. He should be brave enough to make his tour quality so good that attendees will voluntarily pay him a large tip. So I decided to NOT attend his tour. Thank you

Thanks Gautam. You have confirmed my decision to discontinue my walks on Guruwalk.com is correct. You and two other people didn't cancel your walk on that Friday, you just didn't turn up. That's rude and it wasted half my day. Two people cancelled 24 hours before the walk and three people 30 minutes before. When you show no respect by making assumptions about my walks, and not bothering to cancel a booking rather than just not show up, I'm glad I didn't want my time in sharing my city with you.

Gavin is incredibly knowledgable and passionate about the history and culture of the area. The tour only covers a small area compared to other (cities) we have visited before but there was so much info that it was a great to experience the city and spend the morning

    Very nice tour.

    Response from Guru

Hi Jens You were quite right. This was probably the poorest walk I have conducted. The Spanish girls disrupted my usual flow from the outset and then I had a personal issue. I'd had a cancer growth on my chest removed earlier in the week and the wound became infected. It was becoming more painful ad therefore distracting by the time we arrived on the bridge. I cancelled other walks as its still painful and bady infected. I'm sorry that the others turned up as it might have been a normal walk. Yindyamarra Gavin

I had the pleasure of being guided by Gavin during my recent trip to Sydney, and I can't praise his expertise and enthusiasm enough! Gavin's deep knowledge of Sydney's history and culture truly enriched my experience. His passion for sharing insights and ensuring everyone felt engaged made the tour memorable. I highly recommend Gavin for anyone looking to explore Sydney with a knowledgeable and personable guide.
