Prague Castle and Castle District (incl. Change of Guards with Music/Golden Lane)

Bit disappointed with today’s tour. The first half was dedicated to small details without necessarily including greater context about the castle, why the place is significant in Czech history etc. We loved the Old Town tour and were expecting more of the same but too much time spent on unnecessary stops. 30 per group is also a bit big, as it’s hard to build rapport and community. Ended up leaving a bit before the end as it was hot and pace felt frustratingly slow at times (we’d only checked off two locations on the list by the halftime break). Good enough guide, the route, heat and group size let him down.

We strive to be as transparent as possible about what this tour entails. In the description, it’s clearly stated that the tour can accommodate up to 30 people, and we always do our best to ensure this number is not exceeded, which it wasn't today. Additionally, the guide followed the itinerary mentioned in the tour description (we even mention that the itinerary can slightly vary depending on the guide, so customers are prepared for this possibility). The guide informed me that there were 9 stops in the first half of the tour. If you left in the middle, as you mentioned, then they had just started exploring the castle, which might explain why you didn’t learn as much as you expected about it. The title of the tour is "Prague Castle & Castle District Tour." We explore both areas, and the guide followed the itinerary, starting with the castle district. The guide told us he would consider whether he can modify his explanations to provide broader context. That is one aspect we can try to change. We are truly sorry you left the tour disappointed as every single guide in our company always tries to do his best.

Kaca/Katia was knowledgeable, but provided a very frenzied experience. For the changing of the guard, we arrived moments before it started. Kaca talked until the instant it was starting, which ensured that we were in the back of the crowd and could see little of what was going on with the guards (the musicians are high up, so we could see them) - u would have to be a basketball player to have any view of the guards. When Kaca released us to watch, she told us that we needed to return to her in 6 mins, before the changing of the guard was complete, ensuring that we would miss some of it. While I’m sure Kaca has seen it many times, this was our only chance. Between missing the second half, constantly checking my watch to ensure we weren’t late, looking back to see if Kaca had opened her umbrella (the signal to gather with her), and the position way in the back, there was no opportunity to enjoy the experience. In addition, we didn’t see the golden lane - she just pointed that way and said u can go see it later, after the tour. She also complained about other guides a number of times. It seemed like Kaca was in a rush throughout the tour and this was definitely not an enjoyable part of our vacation.
