I declined from joining the tour as Guru Gavin set a precondition in explicit direct terms that he would like us to pay AUD 30 as tip, and even said AUD 5-10 is not welcome. He explained that this is because he donates part of his earnings to his charity. I want to ask you: We all have our personal charities. Please go ahead and help your charity but don’t set such preconditions on your walkers. Your charity's objectives may not be what I would like to endorse. I give to my own charity from my earnings, I don't tell my livelihood suppliers to pay me extra for this. I think Gavin's message sounded like a diktat and is not very welcome, in fact pretty rude from the sound of it. It defeats the purpose of a free tour. He should be brave enough to make his tour quality so good that attendees will voluntarily pay him a large tip. So I decided to NOT attend his tour. Thank you
Response from GuruThanks Gautam. You have confirmed my decision to discontinue my walks on Guruwalk.com is correct. You and two other people didn't cancel your walk on that Friday, you just didn't turn up. That's rude and it wasted half my day. Two people cancelled 24 hours before the walk and three people 30 minutes before. When you show no respect by making assumptions about my walks, and not bothering to cancel a booking rather than just not show up, I'm glad I didn't want my time in sharing my city with you.
