This tour isn't "free" as advertised. They are very adamant about getting 250 000 dong per person - will repeatedly remind you. I don't mind paying but to advertise it as free or tip based and then demanding at least 250 000 is deceitful even when the tour guide was doing the bare minimum
Response from GuruI hope you had a safe and pleasant journey back home. I want to thank you again for joining the food tour in Saigon, and I hope you enjoyed the time we spent exploring the local cuisine, despite the challenging weather conditions. I wanted to take a moment to share some feedback regarding the experience. While I appreciate the tip of $12 USD that you left for the four of you, I wanted to clarify a few points to ensure there's no misunderstanding. After the app fees, I received only $12 USD for a four-hour tour, which equates to $3 USD per person. Compared to the time, effort, and attention I put into crafting a unique and memorable experience—including extending the tour beyond the standard duration and navigating through heavy rain—it felt a little disheartening. As a professional guide, I strive to provide the best possible experience, regardless of the weather or other circumstances, and I always hope that guests will recognize and appreciate that commitment. I completely understand that everyone has their own perspective on tipping, and I respect your decision. However, I also feel it’s important to communicate openly so that future travelers can have a better understanding of the efforts that go into creating these personalized experiences. Thank you once again for choosing my tour, and I hope you left Saigon with some great memories. Should you have any feedback or suggestions on how I can further improve, I’d love to hear from you. Take care, and safe travels.
