I was looking forward to getting information about the history of the city itself, the history presented was more of the artist and writers friendship which I consider art history, not a city history. Also people had basic questions that weren’t really answered. A very loose “I would imagine..” statement was made without actual facts or knowledge. Most of the talking time went to describing what we just saw and where we are going next after each and every single stop and less of the history, which is fluff. Did present some history, just expected more information since that was what was advertised and I’ve been on many walking tours in other cities and this one had the least amount of information I’ve ever been on. He also lead people to walk in the middle of the street and didn’t encourage the people of the tour to use the sidewalk, which is there for pedestrians and cars had to honk at people so they can drive. As we passed places he would keep promoting his wine and foodie tour. Yes food recs are awesome, but if everytike you say, “and we stop there at my foodie tour at 6pm tonight” it’s overkill. To me the start of the tour with your promotion and your card was enough and felt like you were just out for more tours booked for more money.
Response from GuruHi Linda, Thank you for your feedback. It was a very large group that morning and I was trying to keep the group together and moving along. The sidewalks are very small in Aix and most people tend to walk in the streets, which are mostly pedestrian anyway. I always look out for the safety of my tourists. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Aix. Cheers!
