    Response from Guru

Sandrine, your comments and your review are not factual. -1- It clearly shows on the GuruWalk platform where they mention the tipping procedure. -2- Here is a direct copy and paste of what GuruWalk has to say. “How much does this tour cost? Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).” On your own version, as mentioned in front of the group, you said that the tour was "brilliant" -3- At the pre tour briefing I mentioned to the group that the minimum tip as it appears on the GuruWalk platform is 10 Euro. -4- I also told your group, just like I tell all the walkers who book with us, that if you have any questions, you are welcome to ask. None of the walkers in the group questioned anything prior to the tour. So, you can not say that the amount came as a surprise to you. -5- The tour then commenced and at the end of the tour, I thanked all for choosing us, and again, like I always do, I asked the group whether there were any questions. -6- There were no questions after the tour. Instead, the group gave me praise and you Sandrine were the one who said that it was a ”brilliant tour”. -7- At this point the group, including you, gave me a clapping of hands to which I expressed my gratitude. -8- Then, two people gave me R200,00 each (the equivalent of 10 Euro). -9- This was followed by another lady who gave me R200,00 as well. -10- There was no problem at this point. -11- You preferred to pay via card, and when I asked you how much you were offering as payment, you told me an amount which is less than the minimum amount as stated on the GuruWalk platform. -12- I then reminded you of the stipulated minimum amount (as stated by GuruWalk), after which you and your partner became hostile towards me. -13- This was unprofessional on your part, especially since 3 of the group of 7 had already paid me according to what GuruWalk states on their platform. -14- You and your male partner challenged me in front of the group, and I responded to you in front of the group as well. At all times repeating the previous communication both at the pre walk briefing, as well as what is stated by GuruWalk on their platform. -17- Your male partner then went on to say that I will be getting a bad review for everyone to see. - 18- For the sake of peace, I agreed to accept your short payment. -19- Then, the other couple chose to walk away without paying. -20- I walked up to them reminding the couple that they have not paid. -21- The gentleman was busy talking out 2 x R200,00 notes (as per the minimum) to pay me, when his female partner pushed him aside and shoved only R200,00 in my hand (exactly half of the minimum). -22- For me, that was the end of the matter as I could clearly see the intentions of the 4 of you. -23- What is quite clear as well Sandrine, is that you and your male partner displayed a lack of understanding as to how the GuruWalk platform works, especially when it comes to tipping. -24- We are the most reviewed GuruWalk Tour Operator in South Africa and Southern Africa, with the vast majority of reviews being 5 stars. -25- We deliver all our tours with passion and honesty, based on genuine facts and proper research. We don't do this as volunteers or for charity, rather, this is how we derive our income. -26- All I can wish for now is that you guys have learnt your lesson, as I have already forgiven you.
