Perdersi nel quartiere vecchio di Hanoi: free walking tour

We found this tour ok. The guru walker Huyen is forceful and extracts money from the people on the tour. PLEASE AVOID HUYEN if you can find out. She will be very forceful and try to embarrass you at the end to extract more money

First time in GuruWalk where the guide counted the tip and judged it in front of everyone (first experience we had after several tours across the world). We gave what we could with the budget we have and as a reference was more than what we paid to museums and temples in Hanoi. Really bad professionalism from the guide, if a minimum amount is required that should be stated. That ruined the experience of what was an enjoyable tour with really nice hidden places and not really sure we will repeat the experience with GuruWalk.

Probably one of the worst tour I’ve had with this app, completely a mismatch with expectation and feeling wasting my time. Huyen positioned it like a food tour, but I (and some other tour participants) perceived it like a city overview (with history, culture, evolvement, etc) like other general city walk, especially it’s happening in old quarter! Very disappointed. Suggest reposition this tour and send more knowledgeable guide who’s truly interested at history of this city and can do a bit research.

Thank you for your valuable feedback and regret to hear about your dissatisfaction. In fact, the Old Quarter tour does not design to be a history class. We'd rather distinguish it as a more joyful event, i.e., emphasizing more on culture, daily life, and local walks of life of the Vietnamese people so that it could match diverse ages. Of course, information on history is part of the tour but cannot be too much according to our research and experience. At the beginning of the tour, I actually did explain our group how the tour is going to be and in what sequence. Unfortunately, you showed up a bit late and I did not want to restate those as it would not be fair to distract others. I hope to gain your kind understanding and to see you again on my next tour.
