May I count the ways? 1. approached us, confirmed information and welcomed us, and another guest 2. overviewed the 'walk' route and content and welcomed all questions 3. approached each new revelation of history with enthusiasm for Irish history, explanatory discussion, and self awareness (that others may not understand and have other ideas of questions) 4. related historical sites and events to contemporary situation of these neighborhoods and current issues in politics, governance, culture In the end we could see the loop through the city area and history we had made. because our group was small we had opportunities, with our guide, to personalize interests and conversations. we modified the originally designed journey to leave aside some areas that guests had earlier explored, therefore to include areas - in 'old city', 'jewish quarter' and other areas - that highlighted fascinating architectural details, and discussions of important cultural-historical moments. our guide was exquisitely prepared for questions and enjoyed sharing notes about formation of social ideas in different eras of history. it was a privilege to enjoy a long walk of intellectual curiosity.
